Is There A Growing Social Need For New Mums To Lose Their Baby Weight Soon After Giving Birth
Posted by admin in mums4medics on May 23, 2011
For most expectant mothers, putting on weight during their pregnancy is something that comes with the joys of being pregnant.
How much weight an expectant mother gains varies widely depending upon their individual circumstances and although the British Dietetic Association explains that an overweight woman should expect to gain one stone during pregnancy, two stone if they start off at a normal weight for them and three stone if they start their pregnancy underweight, this is only a guideline and it really does vary on each individual woman.
Whilst it’s expected that women will gain at least some weight during their pregnancy and it’s accepted by most that this is a given, there has been a lot of evidence in recent months to suggest that there is a growing social need for new mums to lose any weight that they’ve gained throughout their pregnancy almost immediately after giving birth.
Take a look at any number of celebrity gossip magazines at the moment and it would be extremely unlikely that an issue would go by without an image or two of a celebrity mum boasting her slim post-birth figure or at least being seen out and about with their baby and partner, looking like they’ve lost a few pounds.

Posted by admin in mums4medics on May 23, 2011
It’s the toughest job in the world, or so they say. Being a full-time mum is certainly harder than the regular nine-to-five and doesn’t come with a top flight salary either. But there is a way you can make money out of your experience as a mother by becoming a doulado-what? A doula. It’s a job that came from America, and it’s also very popular in Holland. Doulas support new mums before, during and after the birth of their child. The job involves advising and supporting the mum-to-be and her family during the pregnancy, attending the birth and offering practical support once the baby is born.
You can expect to be well-rewarded for your efforts. Doulas make between £10 and £12 an hour for post-birth work and between £200 and £400 for a birth. Best of all, the only qualification you really need is to be a mum. Though if you are serious about pursuing a career as a doula, there are courses available.
British Doulas offers the only formally certified doula course in Britain and it can be used towards a City & Guilds qualification. Visit the British Doulas website for more information.
Jobs for Mums: What to Look for and Where to Find Them
Posted by admin in mums4medics on May 23, 2011
It’s hard to find jobs for mums who want to stay at home or only work part-time so they can be there for their kids when they get home from school. That’s why you need a job that fits around your schedule, doesn’t require a daily commitment and can be done from the comfort of your couch.
You always want jobs for mums that don’t require much additional training. A little bit of orientation is always helpful, but days or weeks of training cuts into your time and profits. Not to mention it can get pretty boring and turn you off to the job.
I want to ask you a question, and I’ll be curious to hear your response.
